How it all began...
Jane and Kieran have taken several strands of their own passions and woven them together to bring to you the Kilbeg Dairies range of artisan good food.
Formerly a nurse, Jane took a Teagasc course in Agri Food Development and she particularly enjoyed the 'milk to end product' element of the course. Encouraged by the Teagasc advisor, Jane took an existing family recipe and began taking her first steps into cheesecake producing.
Kieran had a pedigree herd of Holsteins and was also keen on developing a high-quality milk product. So while the layout of their traditional farm buildings and yard may not have lent themselves to modern farm machinery, they formed the perfect basis for Kieran and Jane to set-up and install the full HACCP & quality control system that was needed for their fledging agribusiness.
From our fields to your table...
With support from the Meath Leader, An Bórd Bia and the Meath County Enterprise Board, Kieran and Jane are now going into their 5th year, but are committed to upholding their traditional, hand-produced approach.
So what started out as a family recipe, a pedigree herd and a shared desire to build an agribusiness has led to the range of dairy products now produced by Kilbeg Dairies.
